NatureCubsIreland is a Biodiversity Education Service. We work with local community groups like Tidy Towns and Residents’ Associations to produce local Biodiversity Action Plans, help survey wildlife and plants, produce Habitat Maps and Plans, mentor and implement local conservation projects. We work with schools to deliver curriculum-linked visits. We deliver workshops to Summer Projects and Festivals and work with Scout and Girl Guide Groups. We teach in 3rd Level colleges and help 3rd Level Groups produce Biodiversity Action Plans, conduct wildlife surveys and learn about Irish wildlife and legislation.
NatureCubsIreland was set up by Mairéad Stack to bring people into nature, to teach about local and Irish biodiversity and enable children to love and respect nature from an early age.
Mairéad is a qualified Zoologist with Honours Undergraduate and Masters degrees and she also holds a Certificate in Environmental Management. She has worked with the National Parks and Wildlife Service as a Conservation Ranger, with Dublin City Council as its Biodiversity Officer and privately as an Ecologist. Mairéad also worked in Dublin Zoo. Mairéad is a Heritage in Schools Specialist. Mairéad teaches biodiversity, wildlife and environmental modules in 3rd level.
NatureCubsIreland is fully insured and Garda Vetted and has adopted a safe Covid 19 work programme.
Mairéad loves spoken Irish and has conducted numerous workshops as Gaeilge in Gaelscoileanna, in the Gaeltacht, and for the annual Fleadh Ceoil na hĒireann.
